A policeman stole dhs2,000 that had been left in a drawer for safekeeping.
The money belonged to a detainee at the station who had asked a corporal to look after it.
The corporal placed it in his drawer and then left for a few hours. When he returned, it was gone.
Another officer said he had seen a colleague, the 23-year-old Emirati defendant, searching the desk.
The officer pleaded guilty to stealing the money at Dubai Court of First Instance and is awaiting sentencing.
