Nose busted in bus row

A row over a late-running bus resulted in a driver having his nose broken, Dubai Court of First Instance heard yesterday.

An Egyptian salesman denied assaulting the bus driver with a bar following the incident in Bur Dubai in January.

The court heard that the 26-year-old Pakistani driver was running late when he went to pick up employees of a company from International City to take them to a mall in Bur Dubai.

When he arrived to collect them the Egyptian and his fianc?e started shouting at him.

“He yelled at me about the delay so I called the company and told them that he was making trouble and I would not drive the vehicle. They told me they would bring another driver for the employees,” the victim said in the official records.

“His fiancee got onto the bus and asked me to drive and I refused and asked her to shut up.”

According to the woman, the driver then insulted her further so the Egyptian became angry carried out the assault with the bar.

The defendant pleaded not guilty and the trial has been adjourned to prepare a defense.
