An Iraqi teacher has been sentenced to three years in jail followed by deportation for sexually molesting a 15-year-old Emirati student while they were in the school kitchen.

The 54-year-old male teacher was convicted of sexually molesting the student after a court heard evidence from his victim that he had kissed her and touched her chest.

Judges at the Court of First Instance were told that the child was molested by the chemistry teacher at a school in the Al Ghusais area of Dubai in April.

She told interviewing police officers: “He asked me to kiss him and then touched my breast and left the kitchen. I was shocked.”

The teacher had denied carrying out the attack.
