Two men who tried to sell fake dollars to an undercover policeman have appeared in court.
The Sudanese men allegedly tried to con people by claiming they had $1 million which was covered in a black substance which could be revealed using a special chemical liquid to clean the notes.
Dubai Court of First Instance heard yesterday how police received reports about the men’s activities in August so sent an undercover officer to meet them.
“We sent an undercover policeman to meet one of the men in a restaurant in the Naif area of Dubai.
“We arrested him for possessing fake dollars and he claimed that his friend gave him the money.
“We made another trap for the second suspect and arrested him in a hotel in the same area,” an Emirati policeman said in the records.
The two have pleaded not guilty to charges.
The case has been adjourned until next month to prepare their defences.
