Beachgoers are being urged to take care as a number of people have already died this? year in bad weather.
Dubai Police said people must follow instructions when swimming.
The director of Ports Police Station, Brigadier Mohammad Jasim, said bad weather, such as high winds, can be dangerous at the beach, especially for people who do not have good swimming skills.
“We increased our efforts recently with intensive sea and land patrols on the beaches to provide safety and security for the beach users” the brigadier said. “Don’t take a risk and swim in the sea without knowing the weather conditions. Swimmers should follow the instructions of the lifeguards at the beaches.”
The Ports Police Station alone had recorded two deaths and two injuries until the end of June, although it was down compared with 11 deaths and four injuries in the same period of time last year.
People are being warned not to swim if a red flag is flying.
