A harsher sentence has been called for after a Bangladeshi man was jailed for five years for human trafficking.
The 34-year-old electrician was found guilty of buying two women, forcing them to work in the sex industry and then trying to sell them for dhs5,000 to an undercover police officer.
Dubai Court of First Instance heard police found the two women in a brothel in the Muraqqabat area of Dubai in November following a tip-off.
Dubai Public Prosecution told 7DAYS it will appeal against the sentence and ask for a tougher penalty.
It comes as the UAE National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking said it was looking at gathering data on the issue.
