Pakistan News: Former Attorney General Abdul Qayyum stated in the Supreme Court that the then President Pervez Musharraf directed to end the Swiss case on which he wrote letter to the Swiss court to halt the case. Earlier, in the wake of Supreme Court judgment dated July 31, 2009, the Lahore High Court had to curtail the hearing of certain categories of cases due to shortage of judges and now with the induction of honourable judges to the Lahore High Court, the situation has improved and honourable Chief Justice has declared that cases of all the urgent matters filed on daily basis, bail applications as well as cancellation of bails, applications for suspension of sentences, habeas corpus petitions, all motion cases fixed by the office, writ petitions regarding family matters, rent matters, cases of Anti Terrorist Courts, NAB cases as well as appeals arising out of rent restriction ordinance, murder references and murder appeals, all the cases fixed by courts / special courts, which were fixed by court but remained unheard due to non-availability of judges will now be treated as fixed by courts cases and writ petitions for quachement will also be heard from today (October 05, 2009) onwards.
