Pakistan: President Gives Deadline to Abolish 17th Amendment, President Zardari has finally given deadline to revoke the 17th Amendment. He assured that all controversial clauses including 58-2B would be repealed till March 2010. He said that he would address the Parliament after the abolishment of all controversial clauses. The government has accelerated efforts to reconcile with its allies and various meetings are being held in this regard. Earlier, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani called on President Asif Ali Zardari in the Presidency this afternoon. Matters relating to the current political situation, the ongoing drive against militants in Waziristan, arrangements made for displaced people as a result of Waziristan operation and law and order and security situation in the country came under discussion during the meeting.
