KARACHI: The lawyers staged protest demonstration at City Court against the increase in petroleum products through Presidential Ordinance and took out a protest rally.
The lawyers demanded of the government to withdraw tyrannical decision regarding issuance of ordinance.
The rally participants marched from City Court to MA Jinnah Road and staged a sit-in there. The angry protesters kept on raising full-throated slogans against the government.
Earlier addressing an emergency press conference before the protest rally, Karachi Bar General Secretary Naeem Qureshi said the Supreme Court verdict regarding suspending carbon tax was stumbling block in the luxurious lives of the rulers, which was removed by the Presidential Ordinance.
He said the establishment does not want the democracy to perpetuate in the country, adding the government behaviour is dictatorial in nature, which will directly affect the people.
