India carbon target figure
India estimates a 24 per cent cut by 2020 in its carbon intensity - the amount of carbon dioxide emitted for each unit of GDP - compared with 2005 levels, according to provis-ional government figures.
By 2030, it estimates it could achieve a reduction in its carbon emissions by 37 per cent from 2005.
A senior government official said India’s final targets, expected at Copenhagen, could reflect a broad range rather than a specific figure.
